As a parent with four kids, it is sometimes hard to focus on the good stuff and just focus on the bad stuff.  This is good only if you are correcting them but it will show them that you only care about the bad stuff.  You need to show them by commenting on the good stuff that you really care.

The more good stuff you focus on, the more the child will feel loved and the less they will act out.  I have found this out the hard way and now it is harder to correct then it was to do it in the first place.

All a child ever want is to be loved and to have someone pay attention to them and to have that person care about them.  So by focusing on the good stuff you ultimately are showing them this.  It could be just as simple as saying you are proud of them and what good choices they made.

I would go on and on about this topic but it ultimately has to be shown to your children then for me to just lecture about it.  This is a very important key to being a parent and raising your kids to be good people in society.  Since we need a lot of good people out there now days.

When was the last time you focus on the good stuff your child or children did?  What are your thoughts on this subject since I have a few younger readers out there?  Feel free to leave your answer in the comments and I will respond to the questions you have.

KJV Bible

Ephesians 6:4 is another reading in the bible that deals with Fatherhood.

To me Ephesians 6:4 talks about how we as fathers and dads should not pick on or pick at our kids due to what they did or are doing.

This doesn’t mean not to correct them but don’t keep getting on them to stop without doing the correction part of it.

This also tells fathers to raise their children up with good values, kindness, and love like it is taught in the bible.  To look at everyone the same way and to not judge someone for anything they do or did.

These truly talk to us as fathers and dads to how to raise our children in general.

Here are two different bible translations of Ephesians 6:4

Ephesians 6:4

New International Version (NIV)

4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

4 And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Eager For Summer (2015 – A to Z Challenge)

As a parent of four energized kids I can’t wait for summer to come full time.  It is getting tiring to pick up the house almost on an hourly schedule.  At least in the summertime I can get the kids to go outside and enjoy the outdoors as well as any messes they make will also be outside.

So that is enough of “the pick up after kids’ part” of the writing and onto why we are eager for summer.  It is a time to go the beach at the lake by our home, to go to the local swimming pool that has a couple nice slides in it, and to just be outside as a family and enjoying it.

We are big on spending time outside of the house.  We get a yearly pass to the swimming pool and almost every night during the week we are there.  We like to take our kids to the lake as well as spend time looking at nature.  We plan our vacation for sometime in the summer as well as any BBQs we are planning on having with the kids.

Bet it just gives the kids a fresh breath of freedom and not having to spend to whole day in the house.  After a while playing in the house kind of becomes boring.  Especially spending all winter inside due to the snow and cold weather we have here.  It is also a sign that school is almost over and my kids about this time of the year start hoping for school to be over as soon as possible.  I remember this thought as well when I was a child.

I remember playing in the parks, riding bicycles and playing pickup ball games during the summer months.  As well as swimming and fishing.  I like the summer months and so does my kids.

What are you favorite memories of summer as a kid or with your own kids?  If you are not a summer type of person then which season is yours and why?  Feel free to leave your answer in the comments and I will respond to the questions you have.

Dancing Around (2015 – A to Z Challenge)

Having two energized girls and two active boys can make an interesting day.  My girls and the youngest boy sometimes put on a drama show or a dancing show depends on what they are pretending to be at the time.

Sometimes they just get between the TV and us to just dance or they dance to sometime on the TV as well.  But there is not a dull moment in my house.  My youngest daughter always tries to get me to dance with her and I do.  We even danced this weekend at the church breakfast get together before service.

Sometimes dancing can be expensive like breaking a laptop by accidentally stepping on it.  Since this post is a few days late, you can tell what happened.  But it was still fun and enjoyable watching them dance.

Have you ever dance with your kids for no special reason at all but to just dance?  Has there ever been a time something was broken by dancing on accident?  Feel free to leave your answer in the comments and I will respond to the questions you have.
