Bible

Proverb 15:1 is one of my favorite verses in the bible. I try to think and remember this verse every time I get angry and mad at something. Being a father of four young kids, this is almost a daily occurrence. Reacting to something while you are mad almost always end up putting you into a worst position then if you calmly approach the issue.

The main thing this verse teaches you is to approach any situation with a calm attitude and the results will end up being better than if you approach it with anger. Next time when something makes you angry, approach it with a calm cool head and see what happens.

Here are three different bible translations of Proverb 15:1.

Proverbs 15:1

New International Version (NIV)

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

1A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

English Standard Version (ESV)

1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Shouting – The A to Z Challenge 2016

This is an activity I do almost on a daily basis.  I only shout at my kids if they are hurting themselves or another kid.  It is not always the best thing to do and I’m working on fixing that.  I know shouting only make things harder to do but Ssometimes I have to do it to get them from shouting at each other.

My girls shout at each other when they get really mad at each other.  I’ve been trying to find different ways for them to express their feelings without shouting or hurting each other.  They can be the best of friends and the worst of enemies.

Please feel free to leave comments below on your experience with kids that shout at each other.

Rest – The A to Z Challenge 2016

This is one of my favorite words.  Since I have four kids in my house it is also a word I don’t use much unless I’m heading to bed.  I like to rest when I can.  I have been building a playhouse for my kids as well as putting in long hours at work.  This is the first Sunday Rin a couple of weeks that I can just relax and rest.

So while I’m resting I’m also catching up with other things that I didn’t have time to do like writing.  Everyone needs to have rest days so you can relax and re-energize for the next day or week.  A person can get burnt out of doing something if they don’t rest.  This is what I feel like at work right now.

Another activity I use to help me rest besides writing and reading is fishing.  Fish is one of the most relaxing sports that I do.  It is also an activity that I will pass down to my kids.

Please feel free to leave comments below on your experience with kids on the different ways to rest and relax.

Quarry – The A to Z Challenge 2016

My backyard is turning into a quarry due to all of the construction that I’m doing and the kids digging holes trying to help me.  I will use the help me term loosely since I have Qto fill in the holes they made.  I’m building the kids a new playhouse in back.

This is another reason why I’m so far behind on this challenge and why the posts for this challenge is short.

I hope to have the playhouse built-in a few weeks if the weather stays positive and nice.

Please feel free to leave comments below on your experience with kids while building things around the house.
