Bible

Proverb 15:1 is one of my favorite verses in the bible. I try to think and remember this verse every time I get angry and mad at something. Being a father of four young kids, this is almost a daily occurrence. Reacting to something while you are mad almost always end up putting you into a worst position then if you calmly approach the issue.

The main thing this verse teaches you is to approach any situation with a calm attitude and the results will end up being better than if you approach it with anger. Next time when something makes you angry, approach it with a calm cool head and see what happens.

Here are three different bible translations of Proverb 15:1.

Proverbs 15:1

New International Version (NIV)

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

1A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

English Standard Version (ESV)

1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 13:7 is another reading in the bible that deals with money and being humble.

Proverbs 13:7 talks about how sometimes if you act like your wealthy and a snob sometimes means you are not rich at all.  The other part is that most financial wealthy people really act like any other person that don’t have money.  They are frugal and humble around others and truly care about others.  They are friendly with strangers and don’t think they are better than anybody else.  These are just some characteristics of what this passage is trying to teach you about.  How some people are trying to be better than everyone else.  They are really in a worse position then you are in and they are just in denial.

This also will help parents teach their children how to act and treat others no matter how rich they are or poor they are.  This is truly learned but showing your kids by example as well as telling them how to do this.

Here are two different bible translations of Proverbs 13:7

Proverbs 13:7

New International Version (NIV)

7 One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
    another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

Proverbs 13:7

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

7 Some pretend to be rich, yet have nothing;
    others pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.

Proverbs 22:7 is one of my favorite readings in the bible that deals with money. Every time I read this passage, I always want to get out of debt and pay back everything I owe.

To me Psalm 22:7 talks about how you are a slave to a person or thing you borrow from and that you will always have that on your shoulders until you fully pay it back.

Here are two different bible translations of Psalms 22:7

Proverbs 22:7

New International Version (NIV)

7 The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is slave to the lender.

Proverbs 22:7

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
