Love is a very powerful word in the mind and eyes of a child.  They are always looking for it from their parents.  It is also the word the bible talks about a lot.

I always find time to tell my kids that I love them.  IT could be in the morning or at bedtime.  I sometimes tell them when they are feeling down.  It is a good way to put a smile on your child’s face.  This also works for your spouses as well.

You will also need to show it as well as say it to your kids.  Reading to your kids at bedtime or making it a special occasion to go out to a movie with each of your kids.  There is several ways to show how much you love them.  You could easily go fishing with your kids.  Showing love doesn’t mean spending a lot of money on them.

How do you show your kids that you love them?  If you have no kids then your spouse?  Please leave your comments below.

Randomactofkindness

This is a very powerful word and reaction that I have been teaching my kids from day one. I teach my kids that kindness does go a long way in life as well as it is the way I was raised.

Kindness is a word and emotion that some people take advantage of and others just take for granite. The bible also tells us to be kind to other and treat each other with kindness and respect. Kindness most of the time can turn a person that is in a bad mood into a good mood.

My kids practice this all of the time. Kindness also leads to them helping others and random acts of kindness. My face always has a smile on it when they do something for another person or kid out of kindness of their heart. I gives me a feeling that I have taught my kids well and to look at others with respect.

Sometimes my kids remind me of be kind and to have kindness when I’m having a bad day.

What is the last memory of your kids or yourself showing kindness to another person? What was the kind act about? Leave a message below in the comments.

Journal About My Kids (A to Z Challenge)

I have a couple different posts for the letter J in the A to Z Challenge. So I will post this one about using my blog to journal about my kids and save the Judging post for later or even a bonus post. So here is my post for the letter J.

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank on display at the Anne Frank Zentrum in Berlin, Germany. from www.wikipedia.org

Why am I blogging about my kids on my blog? That is a simple answer to me. It is because my kids are a big part of my life right now as well as my wife. This again is why I named my blog as ‘Life of a Busy Dad”. I am using my blog kind of like a hand written journal. This is a way my kids will be able to go back to my blog and read it. I thought I might also print my blog out and turn it into a personal book for each of my kids.

Another reason I blog about my kids is that I will always have a never-ending resource of posts for it. If you have any young kids, then you will know this first hand. They are very active and full of life. Plus I like sharing things my kids do or are doing right now.

It will also give me a platform to improve my writing and communication skills as well as how to communicate my thoughts to others. This is a big deal since this is my weakness. If I get to a point where I start a podcast on my blog, then this will help me to do public speaking. Great things you need to be successful in life and in your work place.

Why did you start blogging on your site? Why did you use that name for your blog? Are you looking to use your blog to help in your daily writing or communications skills? Please leave your comments below.

Games You Play With Your Kids (A to Z Challenge)

Pawns from a game from www.wikipedia.org

Today is kind of an extension from yesterday’s post “Having a Fun Day With the Kids”.  Some of the fun days we have are playing all kinds of different games from card games to board games.

My younger kids like playing matching games and a couple different board games we have including some Disney game with have.  I can’t remember the name of it right now.  They also have “Hungry, Hungry Hippos” as well as “Connect Four” and “Go Fish”.  Both games I remember playing when I was a kid.  At least “Connect Four” I do remember.

My older son likes to play the same games as the younger ones as well as others.  His favorites are “Battleship” and “Monopoly: Tournament Edition”.  He is quiet good at both games or I’m getting worst at playing them (Insert your old age joke here).  At least he has his name on the trophy from the Monopoly game for the last 5 or 6 games we played.  He also is willing to learn and try learning card games like “Cribbage”.

But the best things about playing these types of games is the interaction that I have with my kids and having them smile and laugh when they are beating me at the games.  There have been several times that tears have been shed at the end or during games in my house.  But I address them when they come.

Since my kids are getting older and starting to play with the Nintendo DS’s, Tablets, and Laptops We own, we are seeing these types of games getting less frequency then they have been in the past.  This is the hard part of being a parent.

So now it’s your turn.  Do you have some type of game night or any certain games you play with your kids?  Do you have any memories of games or game nights with your kids that stick out to you?  I know I have a few and if I list them all, then this post would be 2,000 to 3,000 or more words and I want to keep the posts short like the rules state.  Leave your comments below.
