dreams

dreams (Photo credit: idlphoto)

First of all, I apologized for not posting this yesterday. I was busy with home and school activities. It’s a life of a busy dad.

When we were young kids our dreams were to get to the magical age of 21. (18 if you are older than me) That is the age when we became an adult as well as having a cool job at the time and making tons of money. Maybe your dream might be a little different from mine but it is just the same.

Now after being an adult for a while and getting a little bit older we want to stop time. Some of us wish we could go back to those non-stressful days when we were younger to only to live without worry or fear of any type. Ok, maybe not the fear we are feeling as an adult. I haven’t seen a child not be afraid of the dark or something under their bed.

Now I see this in my oldest son as he told me that he can’t wait to grow up and learn to drive. My oldest daughter is also talking about how she is going to drive as well as make money from a place of work.

Children can teach us all kinds of things in life. It not all bad and it doesn’t have to be your child who teaches you. Children start off with the purest hearts.

Now it’s your turn. What dream did you have when you were a child? What dreams have your children shared with you that they want to be? Please leave your comments and stories below.

X-ray Vision And What My Kids Teach Me (A to Z challenge)

At least that is what my kids were playing this weekend. They all played different characters in their make-believe place. One was the Green Goblin, one was Spiderman, one was a princess, and the last one was a school kid. Yes, my oldest daughter pretended she was a school kid. What surprises me is that all four were playing with each other in these different roles.

This makes me realize that my kids can teach me a thing or two being a good dad. This reminds me of the different roles I have to play and how they have to play together as well. Even it doesn’t seem they can even play together nicely. I have to be a dad, husband, a good Christian, a good friend, an office worker, a good judge and jury to my kids, a bus driver (That is what my kids call me when I take them to school), and any other role I have to play. Like my kids, they have to play together. Sometimes I feel that I need to have super powers to do all of this.

Moms have to do this as well or even more than what us dads do. At least it looks like it from my point of view. But it depends what play you are in and how you were raised.

The benefit of what I do and how I handle being in so many roles is what my kids will learn and pass down to their kids when they have them. Trying to be so many roles can increase your stress levels, but be patience and kind as well as slow to anger then you will be just fine.

Now it is your turn. How many or what types of roles do you have to be as a dad or mom in your life? How do you handle the stress of being so many roles? If you don’t have any kids, then how do you handle stress in general or how do you like my blog so far? I’m trying to make this a more interactive post then my previous posts on here. Leave your comments and answers below.

Today was a busy day for all of us at my house. It was full-blown Spring cleaning. The kids had a hard day of playing outside in the 70 degree weather with the sun out. Busy Mom was busy making spring food and cleaning the kitchen area. I was busy cleaning up the yard and getting my landscaping ready for some new mulch.

After we got all cleaned up and went out to dinner, all three younger kids were out for a quick nap. We ate a good dinner and then come back home after some needed shopping. Now all four kids are in bed and asleep before 9 o’clock P.M. and the house is quiet.

So everyone is worn out from today’s activities and is sleeping or getting ready to go to sleep. I also played with my kids during the time we were outside so I didn’t get everything done outside in the yard that I wanted to do. But it is worth it though.

How did you spend your day if it was like the one today? What do you do with your kids? Leave your comments below.

Quality and Value

Quality and Value (Photo credit: wetwebwork)

OK.

The only thing I can come up for the letter “V” was value.  This was a very hard letter for this challenge so far, but I have a few letters left.  So why are values so important.  Being a parent value means a lot of different things because we compare our children to a lot of physical or non-physical stuff.

We need to make sure we value our children higher than a lot of stuff.  For example some parents weight money more important than their kids by working long hours.  Really they are missing time with their kids and family.  Another on is spending time doing stuff that makes them happy and not spending it with their children and family.  In both of these examples the parents are not spending time with their kids and family but it is for two different reasons.  One was for physical (money) and the other is for non-physical (Mental) .

I try to value my kids higher than most of the stuff I have or do.  Again I’m not perfect in any way and I still make mistakes in one way or another almost daily.  Yes I said daily since I’m only human and I’m still learning how to be a good parent and father.  It is a hard journey to make sure my kids grow up into the person I hope they will turn out to be.  No I’m not talking about what they are growing up to be..

When was the last time you value something over your kids?  How did it make you feel afterwards?  What did you missed out on?  If you don’t have kids then used a niece or nephew instead if you are close to them.  Leave your answers below in the comments section.
