The letter “R” was a hard one to write about today. I had already written two different posts for this letter, but both of them will be use at a later time. So for this challenge, I’m writing about routines and why they are so important in the lives of parents and children.

Routines is one of the most simplest and important things to do while being a parent. It will help keep your busy lives in check as well as keeping your sanity. I know this is the case in my house when it comes to routines. They are good in many ways and it keeps chaos out of your life.

Having a routine will keep parents organized and allow kids to follow a pattern. The younger your kids are , the more this comes into play and how much this becomes a teaching moment as well. It gives your kids structure in life. I’m not saying to not have a little bit of spontaneous life outside of your normal routine. In this case a little spontaneous chaos in your kids life will keep them on their toes and training them about change that happens in the world.

Another advantage of routines is that everyone is calm with little to no frustration. At least I hope it is calm in your house. I know it is in my house since we have a routine in place. It also helps with time management. It allows you to get your kids to the bus stop or even to school on time without having to rush in the mornings. It also helps get your kids into bed.

How does your routines work for you? If you don’t have any routines, then are you going to start one? Please leave your answer below in the comments.

Quiet Time in Your Parenting Routine? (A to Z Challenge)

Every parents dream of multiple small children is quiet time. It’s a time for a parent to relax for a little bit without worrying or thinking of what their kids are doing for a few seconds. If you have older children than you know how much quiet time is value as a parent. If you have real young kids than you will know what I’m talking about once your child or children get into the toddler years or higher.

I enjoy my quiet time I get while around my kids. It is mostly when they are asleep or if we are watching a movie at home. If I’m away from them for a few hours then it feels unnatural since I’m so used to the noise around me. It is funny that when the noise levels and the chaos started around the house it was unnatural. Now it is just normal noise.

If my house all of a sudden gets quiet, then I start doing a head count of my kids. Most times this happens when they are getting into trouble or they are trying couching one of them into doing something they are not supposed to do. So quiet time is sometimes not as quiet as I would like it to be.

So do you treasure your quiet time with your kids or do you wonder what trouble they are getting into? Leave your comments below.

Passionate and Patience (A to Z Challenge)

Two skills every parent should have at all times and they happen to start with the letter “P”. Passionate and patience are not always the easiest skills to do. If you don’t have these skills and you have kids then you are probably having a hard time being a parent.

I know I’m not patient with my kids all of the time and I’m trying to work on it every day. You have to be patient when you talk to your kids as well as patience when you correct them when they did something wrong. This way you are not correcting your kids out of anger and do something you regret doing.

Passionate is another skill I use with my kids all of the time. You will have a positive outcome with them when you are passionate to them. It is also a good trait to teach them.

When was the last time you show these traits when correcting your children? When was the last time you didn’t? Leave your answers in the comment section.

I had a hard time coming up with something to post for the letter “O”. So Busy Mom helped me out with this post. I have to give credit when it’s due, so get ready for a post about oranges and my family.

Oranges is a fruit my youngest daughter (L) loves eating. She loves oranges so much that she could be happy just eating them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if she could get away with it. My whole family likes oranges but not at the level my youngest daughter does. Right now I’m not sure if this is just a phase she is going through.

To make it interesting at my house is the fact my oldest daughter (M) loves bananas. So almost every morning we have the smell of oranges or bananas or even both in the kitchen. I’m so glad I like both fruits. The boys are willing to eat both fruits about really don’t have any preference on with one they like more.

On another note when Busy Mom (my wife) was pregnant with my second son (J), she had a craving for oranges all the time. It didn’t matter if it was the fruit or sometime that had a similar taste of an orange like orange slice candy. She was craving it. And yes I had to run out in the middle of the night during that time to get oranges at the grocery store in the middle of the night. That was the only time Busy Mom craved oranges.

I could talk about oranges more but due to me trying to keep my posts under 300 words for the challenge. I’ll add to this at a different time and post.

Now I’ll leave you a couple of questions to answer in the comments if you wish to. You don’t have to answer both but you could if you can. What was the most interesting or most bizarre thing your wife or you craved while pregnant?

The second question is if you had food that you could eat all of the time if you could, what is it and why? Is it your favorite or just a food you crave? Leave your comments about the post or the answers to the question below.
