Now I’m going to talk about Health with my kids.  As the previous posted stated is that my youngest son has ADD and he wasn’t under medicine on our vacation.  Since he has been taking his medicine for his ADD, he has been a very honest, nice, pleasant little boy. H

We also found out why he was getting so frustrated at school.  He learns slower than the rest of his class.  He is not intelligence slow but learning slow.  Once he learns it then he is able to do it.  This includes spelling and mathematics.

Also my youngest daughter was born with a club foot and recently had surgery to fix this issue.  She is almost completely recovered and the surgery worked.

So you should spend time playing with your kids and keeping them healthy since not all kids have that pleasure.  And for the kids that have some type of health issue then try to treat them as normal as possible since that is what any kids wants.

Please feel free to leave comments below on your experience with kids that have health issues.

Going on Vacation – The A to Z Challenge 2016

Going on Vacation can be the best experience with kids as well as the roughest experience.  My family had both on the same trip.  This was back before my youngest son was diagnosed with ADD.  If you have a child or been around a child that has this, Gyou know it can be a challenge.

I know for a fact that I was in denial of him having anything wrong with him before this trip and know I wished I was more open to the issues around him.  I thought the teachers and the school was picking on him and that he was acting up and crying at school to counter it or just to act out.  But I’ll save this story for another post.

I know he gets angry when he gets frustrated which is a normal reaction in my side of the family.  So I just thought it was normal and I personally never seen him act that way in person.

So our trip was to Disney World in Florida which was my kids first time to the park and at the end of the trip I thought it would be our last trip anywhere.  During the mornings and early afternoon everyone was having a blast and my youngest son only showed how impatient he was waiting to ride on rides.  I also seen other kids acting the same way.

It wasn’t until he stopped listening to directions during half way through the trip when the rough part of the trip came into play.  He stop listening when we asked him to go to bed.  He starts yelling at us if he was playing with his toys.

Overall the trip was fun most of the time but my wife and I decided to have him tested when we got back from Florida to see what is happening with him.  He had a rough start at the beginning when he spent 38 days in the NICU.  So after we found out he had 5 of the 7 markers for ADD, we started him on medicine.

I wished he has on it before we went because he was like night and day with the medicine.  So the moral to the story is to swallow your pride and get your kids checked out if something is not right because it could be something like ADD.

Please feel free to leave comments below on your experience going on vacation.

Friendships & Faith – The A to Z Challenge 2016

F is for Friendships & Faith

“These are two of my favorite things.”  F

Sorry for the Sound of Music reference there.  If you are too young to know what the Sound of Music is then google it.  It’s an old musical movie.  At least one or both the these words are in your kids discussions when talking to them about other kids around them.

I found out in one evening how much both of these words meant to my youngest daughter.  I started out asking her about her class at school and the kids in her class.  She then started to talk my ear off for the rest of the evening until I had to get her into bed for the night.

She started listing who her friends were and how they are her friend.  She almost listed everyone in her class except for a couple of kids that was picking on her for her foot or hair color.  Which we have addressed in the past with the school and her teachers.

She also start ed going into the bible stories when I asked her “What does faith mean to you?”.  I believe she was just happy to have me listen to her talk.  But I found out how active she is around other kids as well as how her social activities are coming a long.

I’m planning on doing this to the other three kids to see where they are at on these questions and see if there are any issues or problems in their lives away from home.  This might be a good tool to see if your child is pulling away from others or if they are being a loner type of kid.  Which these could develop into other issues as well.

Please feel free to leave comments below on your experience using these words with your kids.

Germs

Germs (Photo credit: Rusty Russ)

Sorry for the late post but I was sick tonight with allergies. It is like having a full-blown cold and it is not fun when you are a father of four very active kids. Active kids that seek your full attention almost every single minute. It is hard for any parent that is sick. So this post is going to be short and hopefully to the point.

It is hard being a parent and sick in my house.  I have four active kids that is seeking my attention almost every single minute of the day.  All i want is quiet and to go to sleep, similar to what it is right now in my house.  I can write and relax without having the distractions from my kids as well as from our family dog.

Do you remember the last time you were sick and miss an important part of your child’s life or was it a normal day?  Please leave your comments below.

U
